WiigStyle Racing UPDATE: As far as right now WiigStyle Racing members are either in first place in there class or are in second place in there class respectfully. I have really appreciated everyone's support in making our efforts a success. Right now Zach Wiig took a 1-1 win in the 125B class on a double points day to make up some very needed points. Thomas Cox has suffered from bike engine failure in one race but has come back to reclaim what was needed in order to stay at the top of the pack. Josh McMullen has been a great person to work with this year because we have gone thru some bike engine failure that has left us wondering if he will ever ride the 450 again. It looks like Thomas Cox, and Josh McMullen will have championships in the bag but, for Zack Hinze he will have to make up some lost points due to a hand injury, Zach Wiig's surgery a success!! Visit for mroe info. Good luck team and keep riding hard. **Josh Wiig**

Great Day of Racing at Three Oaks

Persia, IA (M.Draper)

After heavy rains caused flooding throughout the region prior to the weekend, Persia, Iowa’s Three Oaks Motocross Park raced on Sunday, June 1 and finished under actually dry and dusty conditions. The track’s hillside location seemed to thumb its nose at Mother Nature, dealing with the wet conditions in an almost routine manner, while the races went off without a hitch.

The event drew a record number of riders for Three Oaks and the A classes provided the excitement. support rider Ricky Draper was looking to get in some quality laps before heading back out to the National Pro-Am Circuit. What he found were some locals riders packing a punch. Yamaha rider Scott Miller showed that he knew the fast lines and won the second moto of the Open Outlaw class over Draper, along with the overall. Miller commented, “He’s a fighter (Draper). What a great race.”
The pair traded paint several times throughout the day, typical of a couple of fast guys who want to win and make some money.

Honda’s Chase McGrath had a solid day, collecting second overall in the 125A class. McGrath led Draper for three laps in the second 250 A moto, but the Storm Lake Honda-mounted Draper snuck by on the uphill sweeper to take the lead and the win. “That was some clean, hard racing. I love watching that”, stated Matt McGrath, Chase’s father/mechanic. “I’ve known Chase a long time,” said the 17 year-old Draper. There was no place to pass on this one lined track without contact, so I made a spot on the sweeper. I know Chase would always race me the same way.”

Draper would score a 1-1 in 250 A, 8-1 in 125 A, and 1-2 in Open Outlaw after taking three weeks off with a sore back. Miller scored the overall in Open Outlaw with a 2-1, while Cody Jaeschke took a moto win in the 125 A class.

Nick JanulewiczA quiet, unassuming man, Danny Janulewicz just wants a little more for his kid. What father doesn’t? Danny’s son, Nick, is an up and coming 65cc motocross racer from Omaha. While there’s no arguing Danny is a big Brian Deegan fan, it’s even more obvious who Nick’s favorite rider is: 2004 and 2008 AMA/FIM Supercross Champion Chad Reed. Taking the next step in this highly competitive sport is tough and expensive. Danny and Nick were preparing to start racing at the Regional and National level this year.

At one of the rider crossings all the A and AA riders came though with out a hitch but by the time the Novices started through the crossing was getting sloppy and hard to cross. I captured most of the crashes and will be posting the photos from Timber Ridge this week. Please be patient I have allot of photos to upload and I will be working to get the majority of them posted by this evening.

Tough weekend for Team riders

After sitting through rain, cold temperatures, hail, and 30 mph winds all day Friday, riders Ricky Draper, Dillon Cloyed, and Chase Evans finally got on the track Saturday. The Loretta Lynn North Central Area Qualifier at The Farm MX in Indianola, Iowa saw Friday practice canceled due to inclement weather.

The team riders had a case of bad luck that saw two of the trio go down with injuries. In the first moto of the Motocross A class, Draper was in 4th place with a lap to go but mis-shifted on the face of a jump and went over the bars. The big 450 was a wreck and a sore hip and back kept him off the track for the weekend. He should be ready to go next week for the AMA Pro-Am in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

Cloyed was improving as the weekend went along, showing a more aggressive riding style on Sunday. Unfortunately, another rider clipped him while he was going around a lapper. The ensuing crash resulted in a broken collarbone. Cloyed is expected to be out 4-6 weeks.

Evans was the team’s saving grace, as he notched a fine 4th overall in Sunday’s racing action, easily qualifying for the Regional.

Another local rider, Chase McGrath, injured his wrist after a spectacular soil sample in the whoop section on Saturday and elected to call it a weekend as well.

This was the Sawicki's first race back from knee surgery. "Ricky Draper " Race Update from Cooperland April 18- 20th 2008

Ricky Draper races toward AMA Pro License

April 18-20, Cooperland Raceway, Stillwater, Oklahoma

Storm Lake Honda/ support rider Ricky Draper competed at the AMA Pro-Am points event last weekend at Cooperland. The race doubled as a Loretta Lynn’s South Central area qualifier.

Draper qualified for the AMA Regional at Lakewood, Colorado in all four classes he entered. The Regional will take place May 30-June1, 2008.

At Cooperland, Draper used consistent and determined riding to score a 4th overall in MX Lites A and 8th overall in Motocross A on Saturday. During the Pro Sport competition on Sunday, he scored two additional 4th overalls, inching closer to the points needed for his AMA Pro license and Supercross endorsement.

“It was fun, but tiring, racing with those guys. They were hauling ass! I remember Johnny Marley when I was younger, now I get to race against him. Teddy Parks and Jeffrey Fisher I raced on minis my whole amateur career. It was a great time. I’m pumped for The Farm.”

The next event for Ricky is a Loretta Lynn’s North Central area qualifier at The Farm MX, in Indianola, Iowa April 25-27.

So I am looking for forum members Also my plan in the next few years for is to be the central location where all tracks at local and hopefully national level can post their Rules, Results and event calendars. Riders Meeting is the perfect name for the perfect place to chat about all the races. I believe that if we all got together Riders Meeting could be what it's name suggests. Ricky Draper makes big statement in return to racing

Ricky Draper In PracticeWith the first moto of the Lites A class on the line, I reminded Ricky to keep a cool head and look for something in the top 10. After all, we were there to gain points needed for an AMA Pro license and points are available through 20th place.

I went to the mechanics area as the gate dropped and I heard the announcer, “Ricky Draper, 821, Bellevue, Nebraska, followed Ricky Draper In Practiceby Alex Martin, 144, Millville, Minnesota.”

Before I could react, I overheard a couple people talking about Ricky. “That holeshot ain’t no surprise. That kid’s been getting good starts his whole life and smoking my kid.”

There was a chuckle, almost pride coming from these strangers, that they knew Ricky and were pleased to see him do well. You want to talk about pride, my chest was about to explode.

Since January of ’07, Ricky has had three surgeries. One for a broken wrist and one on each shoulder. After a long 14 months of rehab and training, he’s back. He’s healthy. He’s 100%. And it showed this weekend. He’s back in his element, riding against the best competition, taking some lumps, but dishing out a few too.

Martin passed Ricky on lap two, but developed bike problems and finished 16th. Ricky had the lead, lap after lap I was begging for the white flag. I knew the 241 of Derek Anderson was coming. He set the fastest lap times in practice and I knew because I wore out my stopwatch. The Team Green rider from Colorado caught Ricky on the last lap and they battled until the last turn Ricky Draper In Practicewhere Anderson made the move and snuck by Ricky for the win. They gave each other a thumbs and that was that. 2nd place over 29 blazing fast, hungry riders trying themselves to get to “the show.”

Ricky had been off the bike for about a year and nearly won a Pro-Am. The rest of the weekend was very up and down. He went 12-6 on the 450 on Sunday for a solid overall finish. He followed up the 2nd place with a 19th in the Lites class. He was running 4th and crashed and scored 11th overall. Another month or two on the bike, I told him, everything will be fine.

In the end, he accumulated 22 points toward the 80 needed for his AMA Pro license. Next up is Cooperland Raceway in Oklahoma for more Pro-Am racing April 18-20.

His goal is Millville this year and he doesn’t mean amateur day.

See you at the races!

Harold & Chase

Chase McGrath and Harold Waddell went out for some practice this weekend and from the looks of it Harold Is ready to go win another Hillclimb national championship.Logan Iowa Hillclimb 2008 Event Flyer
Next weekend Harold is heading to California for the N.A.H.A hillclimb national championship series opener. the NAHA Pro Series Round 1 will be at Carnegie.
Harold Waddell will be defending his national title and representing the midwest again the 2008. While Chase McGrath has never raced a hillclimb event he is planning on racing his first event at the Logan Iowa Hillclimb April 20th, Click Here for Flyer. Chase really wants to go the event with a better understanding of how to climb a hill the way the pro's do.
Well Harold showed chase how it's done by rolling his front wheel up to the base of the hill, with his front tire shoved in the rut at the bottom. One second Harold was at the bottom and in a split second he was launching straight up with NO RUNWAY! From stop to full throttle just like that. Both me and Chase were hollering at him because it was freaking awesome to see. I have been at several of these events and I just cant get enough, when you see it first hand you get a much better appreciation for what these guys do. Well If you have never raced a hillclimb or never been to one, this is not one to miss, it will be the only time this year that you would be able to see the National Champion do his thing on his nitro burning 1100cc Motocross bike. This is a must see event. for more info click on the flyer. for more about Harold Waddell visit his website

I just wanted to say to all of the riders that are on the other side of a camera this year, weather it's my camera or someone else at a track you are racing at this year...
Don’t take your photographer at the local races for granted, Most of us photographers have full time jobs and most have little to no spare time for anything other than the daily job and then we spend countless hours sorting, editing and uploading the photos from the weekend.
Photos From 2007
Most of the time when we go to the races we love to race and then come home and want to see our photos on the internet, then we love to share them.
I go to the races and take photos now because I love to be there and I love to be apart of giving you the racers something to remember. I don’t race any more, but I can still be there and that is what I love about racing.
I raced with many of you over the years and I remember going home from a race and I hoped the photographer at the race got a good shot of me.
Unfortunately I never had allot of photos taken of me, So I have always tried to get as many photos of everyone on the track as I can.

If you are at an event that I was taking photos at and there were only a few photos of you, it's never because I forgot to take your photo it's usually because the some of them didn't turn out. I have spent this last year learning how to take better and more of them are better photos, so hopefully this year I can give you all more to view and share with your family and friends.

I also want to say that I grew up racing motorcycles when there were no computers and each photo was taken with a 35mm camera and developing was expensive, and because of this it was expensive to purchase them. I spent my entire racing career "without" having someone like me taking photos and wished I could get a photo of me like I saw in the magazines.CLick On Photo to view more

The times I did end up buying a photo there were only a few shots of me to choose from, back then a few was 1 or 2 maybe 3 if we were lucky. I wish now that I would have spent a few dollars from each race on a photo even if it was not a great shot it would have been something, and that is better than nothing, A real photo is what I should have purchased, sadly I only have a few from me growing up I only wish I had more. Don’t let that be you, this year buy one photo from every race you go to. even if it's a 4x6 or a 5x7 something is better than nothing..... TRUST ME 5, 10, 15 or 25 years from now you will wish you did exactly what I am saying right now.

Yes I want to sell photos but that is not why I am there, I am there because I don't want you to miss out on what I did growing up. Make and effort to get one photo from every race this year and at the end of the year you will be happy that you did. Trust me...

I will be offering better prices on my photos this year so that more of you can make your memories last a lifetime, I will work on making it affordable for everyone to have a photo, I do this because I love to and I love to be able to bring you the best possible quality to your memories....

God Bless and See you at the races.

Sunday Practice with McGrath:

It was a cold day and with the season opener at Knobby Hill being canceled due to weather, but that didn't stop a few riders from making to to the
sand track for some good practice. Chase McGrath (326) on a honda for 2008, Trevan Hetzel (413), Scotty Miller (210), Zavier Rhye (225) and a few others were just out to have some fun and to get a good workout.

I was there for practice also, as I had a few new things I wanted to try. I have been shooting indoors allot lately and I had the itch to get outside and today was one of those days for a photographer that can really give a serious challenge. The sky was spotted with clouds and the sun poked it's way though every couple minutes. I would get my camera set for the shot I wanted to take and just as the rider got to where I was shooting the darn sun would wither shine or it would go away. So it made my day interesting and gave me something to work on as well. All in all I still got some pretty decent shots and I am excited to have my first year as a photographer under my belt, this year I believe I will be able to bring everyone better quality photos. I'm the owner of Knobby Adventures LLC which provides the MSF Dirt Bike School here in the Omaha area.  I've been doing the school for a couple of years now and brought dozens of new riders into our community of dirt. One of the first things that people interested in learning to ride ask is; "where do we go to ride?".  Which unfortunately in the Omaha area is not an easy question to answer.  We have some fine motocross tracks in the area.  But, many new riders don't feel they may want to go jump onto a track right away (remember what they see on TV) and parents often are not ready for their kids to do that.  New riders want a relaxed environment to learn.   OR many are just interested in doing some recreational riding.  Unfortunately places for them to go are very limited.

I don't know if you all have heard of NOHVA, .   This association is made up of folks here in Nebraska trying to help promote, maintain, and protect riding opportunities in Nebraska.  It's just good people trying to make off-roading better in Nebraska.

The director of NOVHA is putting on a meeting here in Omaha.  Here are the details and please come join us.

Omaha Meeting - As per a request from several of our Omaha area members, we will be holding a meeting on Saturday, February 23rd at 1 PM in Omaha.  This meeting is intended to help people find more places to ride and will be held at Elkhorn's Common Ground, 1701 Veterans Drive, Omaha, NE 68022.  For more information visit an information page on our web site at

Hope to see ya' there.

Weekend Note: Photos By Randy Toy <Click Here for more photos>
Friday kicked off with Cody Gilmore claiming victory in the 125 A class, followed closely by Travis Hodges. In the 250 A featured main event, Cody Gilmore was well on his way to claiming his second victory of the night, when in the corner following the finish line jump Gilmore extending his leg, jammed his knee into the handle bar causing him to drop out of the race, and the rest of the weekend, handing the lead over to Travis Hodges who eventually captured the Friday night A class main event win with Braden parks and Brandon Kruger finishing out the podium. Without Question the most consistent racer this weekend came from the B class as Chris Cochran (Bike #740) dominated all 3 classes entered 125B, 250B and Youth-16 classes. Not only did he win all three of his classes on Friday, he backed up his performance on Saturday securing a perfect weekend going 6 for 6 leading virtually every lap of every main event.

Saturday Night’s main event was kicked off with Dustin Peterson thanking the event’s sponsors, during which he dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, she happily accepted and the crowd responded with cheers that could be herd in the pits, a building over. Peterson Racing Promotions is a family operated organization with 7 years of hard work on their side and a love for the sport that reflected in their overall show as the entire night was packed full of fun for everyone. Jesse and Dustin Peterson are more than the event promoters, they are enthusiasts. Jesse (Bike #691) was also a competitor in the A class, as well as the track designer. This weekend’s track was well taken by the riders and loved by the spectators.
In the 125 A Main event Travis Hodges took the lead on lap one and never looked back, while Braden Parks and Mike Kruger rounded out the top 3. The 250 A featured main event saw Brandon Kruger and Braden Parks edging out Hodges at the start, for the entire race there was a 3 way battle for the top spot with Brandon leading every lap. On the last lap Hodges and Parks drag raced to the last turn, fighting for that second spot, as Parks slowed as he attempted to run Hodges wide to gain advantage on the last set of jumps, while Travis the veteran that he is, squared off the turn perfectly just edging out Braden on the face of the final jump. The crowd was on their feet for the entire moto as these 3 competitors gave every one a show to remember.

Make Sure to visit for more future event information. <Click Here for more photos>

I was not the only photographer on hand this weekend, as Friday races were photographed by me "Randy Toy" and Brad Letcher of Chaos Clicker. His collection of photos from the friday events will be more complete than mine, Brad has photographed every event the Peterson Racing Promotions has held at the Swiftel Event Ceter. So make sure you check out his website for the most complete collection of photos from Friday Jan 18th 2008. His website is
you can also visit for more event information.

With the racing Action it pays to be consistent, and Chris Cochran or better known as "Bucky" only had one bad race all weekend, fortunately it was in his first qualifier on friday, as Bucky swept every main event he entered, 250 B Class & the 450B Class. His speed and pure determination drove him to a perfect main event weekend.<Click Here for more photos>

Friday 4:30pm Brookings, SD Supercross Update:

With bone chilling temperatures reaching a high of -2 degrees and that's with out the wind chill factor Cody Gilmore Brookings Supercross Jan 18th 2008With the Pits located in a building just behind the arena a 50 yard walk between the buildings is all each rider walks in the outdoors to get their bike to the arena, but through these temperatures that is like an eternity that affect both bike and rider, in a few short seconds it takes to take that walk the bike and rider need some warmth, so to get that staging for each moto is located inside the arena. just behind and to the left of the starting gate.
In practice we saw Cody Gilmore riding a Honda. Yeah that is right Gilmore once a Kawasaki Rider made the switch to Blue in November of 2006 and now the 2008 season kicks off with our local hero riding red, then we have Travis Hodges, Jared Robey, Chase McGrath take to the track and lay down some fast lap times with Hodges and Gilmore the obvious favorites for tonight's event.

With Qualifying out of the way by 3:30 the riders head out for a warm meal, and take some time to relax .Gates open at 6:30 and the real action begins. Tune in later for a recap on tonight's events.

AURORA, Ill. (January 5, 2008) – The Toyota AMA Arenacross Series marched into the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo., tonight for the first event of the New Year.  In the Toyota AMA Arenacross class, Honda’s Teddy Maier took advantage of the bobble by the Toyota Holeshot winner Nathan Skaggs to win the main event.
“I didn’t see Skaggs go down but when I came to the end of the whoops section I saw him trying to restart his bike.”  Maier said. “He just kind of gave it away, but I’ll take it.” After making the 9-hour drive down from racing in Grand Rapids, Mich., last night, Maier put on an impressive display for the TiLube, MotoXXX team on his Honda.  Even with his second place finish Skaggs was proud of his ride, saying “I would like to have won but I ran a good race.” <More>
